Volunteer of the month – Congratulations Roimata Tauroa

Roimata has supported Tunui a Te Ika Outrigger Canoe Club based at Oriental Bay as a member, paddler, secretary, coach and is always first to put her hand up to coordinate and assist with all club activities.
Recently Roimata trained two NZ Post corporate teams, attended and volunteered at Waka Ama NZ National Sprint competition at Karapiro,  facilitated overseas Dragon Boat team experience and has coordinated open days for the club in collaboration with the Ocean Water Sports Programme at Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club.

Sport Wellington’s Sport Development Advisor Jamie Milne says “inspirational people like Roimata are why we have the Logan Brown Volunteer of the Month award to recognize them. Roimata does all this activity without reimbursement and takes annual leave to ensure Waka Ama is promoted and developed – what an inspirational volunteer and person for our region!”

Roimata will receive a voucher for Logan Brown Restaurant for a tasting options. Logan Brown Restaurant is synonymous with excellence and service; values which align closely with the positive aspects of volunteering and coaching.

Well done Roimata (pictured below at Waitangi Day celebrations)
