A great start to the series. Considering a number of paddlers were away, an excellent turn out with 23 entries: 16 W1/W2 and 7 Surfski/Seakayaks. It’s definitely a good way to measure training progress, and much more fun than slogging it out alone.
Unfortunately the wind picked up significantly, so it was hard going in some sections of the race. The start was at Ngati Toa Domain, to Browns Bay, back to a turn markers just outside the Mana Yacht Club, back to Browns Bay, and then back home with the finish at Ngati Toa Domain. Total distance was approximately 11km, so a bit longer than originally anticipated.
We tracked the first 14 entries of the race. The race can be replayed at http://www.yacht-bot.com/races/10823. See you at the next event on late June (likely Petone). If there is demand, we could run an additional race in late May, text Joern on 021-1250997 in case this is of interest.
Note that we may change the future events from Saturday to Sundays, as this may work better to fit in with various trainings at clubs on Saturdays. To be notified well in advance of the next events.
