Hoe Tonga Pacifica Waka Ama Association President George Fa’alogo (of Mana Pacifica Outrigger Canoe Club) resigned from the position of presidency effective 16.03.09 on the conclusion of it’s monthly committee meeting.
George was voted onto the committee as President in 2006 and has lead this region through some tough times bringing value, strong leadership & direction. Assisting with the development and growth of Waka Ama within the region. George has also led the NZ Police Waka Ama National Championships now in it’s third event – due to the success of this event it h as continued to be held in Wellington by popular choice of event participants.
We wish him every success in his new role within the NZ Police and thank him for all he has given to the sport of Waka Ama within our region as a successful paddler & strong leader.
Katie Townsend from Tunui A te Ika Waka Ama Club will now step into the role as President of Hoe Tonga Pacifica Waka Ama Association. Katie has occupied the role of Vice President since the last AGM. Please welcome and support her in her new role.

The Hoe Tonga AGM was held Monday 3 November with the following people elected to executive positions:
President: George Fa’alogo
Vice President: Katie Townsend
Treasurer: Averill Paenga
Secretary: Raukawa Comerford
NKOA representative: Samantha Tamanui
We congratulate these people and look forward to building on the great work that the Hoe Tonga Committee are undertaking particularly in developing partnerships with organisations who can help our region develop like Sport Wellington.
