Waka Ama New Zealand are excited to see this initiative commence. By establishing this group we are able to start to build a pathway for more youth to be involved in the organisation of our sport.
Some of these rangatahi will go on to be the leaders in our sport in the future and the more they understand the inner workings of the organisation of Waka Ama, the greater leaders they will become.
It will also provide some of our talented Rangatahi leaders with pathways that develop their skills and enhance their CV’s.
If you are interested in being a rangatahi voice for Waka Ama NZ and contributing to the future of waka ama then this is for you! For more information and eligibility please read the following document Te Reo Taiohi o Nga Kaihoe o Aotearora-Terms of Reference
If you would like to apply please get in touch with us for an application form and process details.
For all our Wellington Harbour Paddlers please take note:
Please be advised that a wave monitoring buoy is going to be deployed approximately 100m off the coast along the Hutt Motorway.(attached is an image indicating it’s approximate location).
There will be 3 buoys linked ~4m apart, the main buoy being yellow in colour and lit at night (8 flashes every 20 seconds). Deployment date is expected to be sometime this week, and it may remain in place for up to 5 months.
